Carl Franklin McManigle was born: 3 Sep 1918, Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. He married Helen Marie Schuckers 04 Jan 1985 and they had one son. Carl died: 1 Sep 1974, in Orlando, Florida. The body was returned for burial to Pinecreek Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
Carl’s parents were Harvey Herbert McManigle (1890-1970) and Florence Viola Farrell (1890-1983). Carl’s paternal grandparents were Solomon Ellsworth McManigle, Jr. (1861-1934) and Martha Malinda Swartz (1864-1932). Carl’s maternal grandparents were Patrick Henry Farrell (1855-1934) and Margaret O’Neill (1860-1930).
The 1920 US Federal Census for Rose, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, has a record of the H. H. and Florence McManigal [sic] [McManigle] household. Harvey Herbert McManigle was the head of household and was renting the house they lived in. He was white, twenty-eight years of age, married, able to read and write. He was working as a laborer in furniture building. Florence McManigle, his wife, a white, female, twenty-eight years of age. Vivian McManigle, daughter of Harvey, was a white, female, ten years old. Carman McManigle, son [sic] [daughter], she was seven years old. Evelyn McManigle, daughter of Harvey, was four years eight months old. Carl McManigle, son, was one year four months old. All in this household and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.
The 1930 US Federal Census for Pine Creek, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, was conducted April 10, 1930, by Clark R. Stahlman, Enumerator. He found the Harvey and Florence McManigal household at home there. Harve H. Mcmanigal was a 40-year-old male, white, and had been married 20 years. He could read and speak English and was working as a laborer in a Brick Plant. Florence V. Mcmanigal was a 39-year-old female. Carmen A. Mcmanigal was a white, female, eighteen years of age, single, working as a servant with a private family. Evelyn L. Mcmanigal was a 14-year-old female and was attending school. Carl S. Mcmanigl was and 11-year-old male and was attending school. Wayne I McManigal was a five-year-old male. Mary J. Mcmanigal was a three-year-old female. They did not have a radio set in the house. All the members of this house and their parents were born in Pennsylvania.
The US Federal Census for 1940 in Pine Creek, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, has a record of the Harve and Florence McManigle family. Harve McManigle, head of house, white, male, fifty years old, married. Harve was working as a burner in a brickyard with an income of $1,300 in 1939. They were renting their home for twelve dollars per month. Florence McManigle, wife of Harve, white, female, forty-nine years of age, married. She was engaged in home housework. Carl McManigle, son of Harve, white, male, twenty-one years old, married, attended school in the last year. Carl was working as an attendant at a filling station with an income of $500 in 1939. Wayne McManigle, son of Harve, white, male, fifteen years old, single, attended school. Mary Jane McManigle, daughter of Harve, white, female, age thirteen years, attended school. Everyone in the family was born in Pennsylvania and all had lived in the same place, Pine Creek, in 1935.
The 1950 US Federal Census for Brookville, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, found the household of Carl and Helen McManigal [sic] in residence on Fifth Street. Carl McManigle, head of house, white, male, thirty years of age, married, working as a steamer of electric tubes [vacuum tubes working for Sylvania]. Helen McManigle, wife of Carl, white, female, twenty-nine years old, keeping house. Paul McManigle, son of Carl, white, male, nine years old. All in the family were born in Pennsylvania. Carl's family lived close by his in-law Leo Baughman (age 23), Leo's wife Nellie and six-month old daughter Brenda. The Baughman's were on Sixth Street and their census record is on the same page as the Mcmanigle's.
Mr. and Mrs. John Minno and Mr. and Mrs. Carl McManigle attended the Michigan-Penn State foootball game at State College, Saturday.

14 Employees Have Been With Plant Since Opening
Among the 24 who were hired from May 10 to 12, 1943, are these following Brookville residents: Helen McMillen, Beulah Swineford, Ruth Carr, Carl McManigle, Iola Watson, Dorothy Simpson, Dorman Murphy, Margaret Reinsel, Homer Berkhouse, Delva Henry, Violet Meachen, and Nancy Howard. John L. Minno came to the Brookville plant in 1943 as Plant Superintendent and in 1946 became Plant Manager.

Grid Parents Meeting Held
The second meeting of the newly formed Football Players Parents Club was held at the Northside Elementary School gymnasium Monday evening, May 23, with President Albert Haugh presiding. Carl McManigle was elected secretary-treasurer and the following commitees were named: Publicity and Projects, Mrs. J. A. McFadden, chairman, Mr. Walter Lockett, Mrs. Asher Galbraith, Mr. Charles Keough, Mr. Wilbur Humphrey, Mrs. Eli Snyder, Mr . and Mrs. W. J. Green. In May of 1956 Allen Porsch, supervior of product engineering and Carl McManigle, foreman of the Units Department, made a presentation of a patents award to Lloyd Emerick, product engineer, and Wayne Welsh, mechanical maintenance, an employee of the Units Department for an improvement they suggested.

Five Local Men Graduate In Dale Carnegie Course

Sylvania Is Vacationing
Annual vacation for more than eight hundred employees of the Brookville plant of Sylvania Electric Products Inc., commenced on Friday, when they received upwards of $146,000 in pay.
Hourly employees received thir full vacation pay in July 18, the last workday prior to the scheduled vacation shutdown while all salaried employees received up to two weeks' vacation pay, depending on seniority as of July 1.
Among the Sylvania employees with fifteen or more years of continuous service as of July 1, was Carl F. McManigle.

CARL F. McMANIGLE Carl F. McManigle, of 122 Bayberry Road, Longwood, Fla., died Sunday, September 1, 1974 in Orange Memorial Hospital at Orlando, Fla.
Born in Brookville September 3, 1918, he was the son of Harvey H. and Florence (Farrell) McManigle. He was married to Helen Schuckers.
Mr. McManigle, a former resident of Brookville, had been employed by GTE-Sylvania for thirty-two years. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Seneca Fals, N. Y.
Surviving are his wife and one son, Paul, of Longwood, Fla.
To grandchildren also survive as do four brothers and sisters: Mary Jane Cyone, of Brookville; Carmen Yates of St. Marys, Vivian Fedders, of St. Marys and Evelyn Strawcutter, of Kane.
Funeral services will be held Friday, September 7 at 2:00 p. m. at Donald C. Galbraith Funeral Home with Dr. James A. Woomer officiating. Interment will be in the Lutheran cemetery at Emerickville.

MR. C. F. McMANIGLE, 55, Fern Park died Monday.
Born in Brookville, Pa., he moved to Fern Park 10 years ago from Seneca Falls, N. Y. He was a supervisor for GTE Sylvania and a member of Eagles Lodge 983, Brookville. He was a member of the Methodist Church, Seneca Falls.
Survivors: widow, Mrs. Helen; son, Paul, Fern Park; mother, Mrs. Florence McManigle, Brookville, Pa.; sisters, Mrs. Mary Jane Cyone, Brookville, Pa., Mrs. Carmen Yates, Mrs. Vivian Fedder, both of St. Mary's, Pa., Mrs. Evelyn Stawcutter [sic], Kane, Pa.; two grandchildren.
Semoran Funeral Home will send the body to Brookville, Pa., for burial.
