Benjamin Swartz was born 13 Oct 1826 in Northumberland County, Pennsylvania. He died 1 Jan 1913 in Pinecreek, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
The 1860 US Federal Census for Pine Creek, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, enumerated the 12th day of July 1860 by Joel Spyker, has a record of the Peter and Sarah Baum household. The four Baum children are also at home. In the household are Micheal Mowrer, a twenty year old male; Benjamin Swartz, a thirty-two year old, male and three other men working as laborers. Finally, Pricilla Mowrer, a twenty-two year old female was working as a domestic.
Although the spelling of the name is different, the Pricilla Mowrer working in this household is probably the Priscilla Mowery that Benjamin Swartz would marry that same year. And Micheal Mowrer working as a laborer with Benjamin is probably Priscilla's relative.
On 1 Jul 1863 Benjamin Swartz was registered for the draft during the American Civil War. The registration indicates he was born in Pennsylvania, but farming in Greenwich, Warren, New Jersey, in the Third Congressional District.
[This seems unlikely based on the other facts in his life.] The record indicates he was a white, male, thirty-six years of age, meaning he was born about 1827. The record indicates he was eligible to be drafted, but it is unknown if he called up.
1870 US Federal Census for Pine Creek, Jefferson, Pennsylvania,

Sarah J. Swartz, born abt 1861 in Pennsylvania;
Mary Elisabeth Swartz, born abt 1862 in Pennsylvania;
Martha Swartz, born abt 1863 in Pennsylvania;
Suella Swartz, born abt 1865 in Pennsylvania;
John Swartz, born abt 1867 in Pennsylvania;
Catharine Swartz, born in 1870 in Pennsylvania
The 1880 United States Federal Census for Pine Creek, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, enumerated the 12th day of June 1880 by William D. Kane, has a record of the Benjamin and Pricilla Swartz household. Benjamin Swartz was a white male, fifty-five years of age, married, working as a carpenter.
