1880 US Federal Census for Pennsylvania > Jefferson > Polk > 199 > page 7, as enumerated on the first day of June 1880, has a record of the Solamon (sic.) and Margret Shaffner family. Solomon Shaffner, age 49, farmer, Solomon says that he was born in Pennsylvania and his parents were both born in Switzerland; Margret Shaffner, age 43, wife, keeping house, she said she and her parents were all born in Pennsylvania; Perry Henry Shaffner, age 17, laborer at home; Barrett D. Shaffner, age 14; Morris R. Shaffner, age 11; Lorena C. Shaffner, age 7; Vina A. Shaffner, age 2. All the children were born in Pennsylvania and even though the census record says (1) that Perry is the son of Solomon and (2) Solomon says he was born in Pennsylvania, (3) Perry says his father was born in Switzerland and the census taker recorded it so.
On this same page is a record of the John and Francis Shaffner family. John is Solomon's younger brother. John Shaffner, age 46, farmer, John said he was born in Pennsylvania and both his parents were born in Switzerland; Francis P. Shaffner, age 43, wife, keeping house, born in Ohio; Freemon H. Shaffner, age 19, son, laborer at home; Henry Z. Shaffner, age 15, son, laborer at home; Walter E. Shaffner, age 12, son; Jessie P. Shaffner, age 6, son; Bazer S. Shaffner, age 3, son. There was a line for Oiliver P. Shaffner, age 18, son, laborer at home, but it had a line drawn through it. All of the children were born in Pennsylvania.
Obituary of Levine Abelina Schaffner
Lena BaughmanMrs. Clover Baughman, well-known resident of Brookville RD#, died at her home on Monday, November 21, 1955 at the age of 77 years, 5 months, 17 days. Mrs. Baughman was the daughter of Soloman and Margaret (Kunselman) Schoffner, having been born June 4, 1878, in Munderf.
She was an active member of the Methodist Church.
On September 1, 1897, she was united in marriage with Clover O. Baughman of Stanton, who survives her. She is also survived by her three sons: Victor Jay, Herman Leonard, Peter Ambrose; and four daughters: Mrs. Farrel Keihl, Mrs. Wade Byerly, Mrs. James McAfee, and Mrs. Lorn Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter Gertrude Baughman.
Interment was made in the St. Johns Cemetery.
