The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Certificate of Birth for Ruth Isabelle Baughman indicates she was born 16 Oct 1910 in Beaver Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania. A female, single (as opposed to twins), and legitimate. Her father was Oran Clover Baughman and mother Lavina Abolena Schaffner, both of Summerville, Pennsylvania, R D 1. Clover was white, born in Rose Township, Jefferson County, Pennsylvnia and working as a laborer and thirty-three years old at his last birthday. Lea was white, born in Munderf, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania, occupation was housekeeper and thirty-two years old at her last birthday. This was Lea's seventh child. Dr. A. J. Simpson, of Summerville, Pennsylvania, certified that the birth of this child occurred on 16 Oct 1910, at 11:45 P. M. The birth certificate was filed with W. W. Carrier, registrar, on 01 Dec 1910.
Ruth Baughman successfully passed the county eighth grade examination which was held at Brookville April 26th.

Ruth Baughman was one of ninety-three students graduating from Brookville High School. This would be the largest class in the history of the local high school. Last year's class, numbering 86, held the record as the largest class for only one year. The growth of each successive class indicates the increasing number of students who are finishing the high school with credit, as well as the increased demand on the school facilities.

Ruth Baughman, a 19-year-old white female, was born in Pennsylvania around 1911. In 1930, she resided in Beaver, Jefferson, Pennsylvania, USA, along with her parents. Ruth was single and identified as the daughter of the household. She attended school and possessed the ability to read and write. Both her father and mother were also born in Pennsylvania, and the family spoke English. The Baughman household consisted of three members and was located at dwelling number 40, family number 40.
Teachers have been elected in the following districts for the year 1930-31:
Oliver Township: Sprankle Mills, No. 1, Ruth Baughman; Smith, Olive Mowrey; Millen, W. T. Burkett; Coolspring, No. 1, Ethel Breakey; Burkett Hollow, Florence Neiger; Oliveburg, Genevieve Clark; Startzell, John Lingenfelter. Schools held over were Sprankle Mills No. 2. Coolspring No. 2 and Laurel Ridge.

On 16 Aug 1934, Ruth Brown gave birth to a stillborn child. The child was not named and was buried in Beaver Run Cemetery 17 Aug 1934.

Lorin Brown was a white, male, 32 years of age, born in Pennsylvania, working as a repairman at a motor company. Ruth Brown, Lorin's wife, was a white, female, 29 years old, married, born in Pennsylvania. In 1935 Lorin and Ruth lived in Punxsutawney, Jefferson County, Pennsylvania.
On 27 Aug 1941 Mrs. Lorin Brown, 91 Boylston street, was admitted to Bradford Hospital.

Ruth Brown was active in supporting the war effort during World War II. Her name was published, in the Bradford Evening Star, as being a blood donor with the Red Cross (22 Apr 1942) and a campaign worker with the Community Chest-War Fund (15 Oct 1943). She was active in the Women's National and Foreign Missionary Society of the First Presbyterian church. Lorin was away in the Army from 26 Nov 1943 until some time after 23 Oct 1945.
But, Lorin must have gotten some leave in August of 1944. On 19 Apr 1945, Ruth and Lorin Brown had a son and they named him Robert Lorin Brown.
The 1950 US Federal Census for Bradford, McKean County, Pennsylvania, as enumerated by Elizabeth Shortell on 04 Apr 1950, has a record of the Lorin and Ruth Brown household. Lorin Brown was the head of house, white, male, 43 years of age, married, born in Pennsylvania, employed as a salesman of electrical dquipment in a motor repair factory. Ruth Brown, Lorin's wife, white, female, 39 years of age, married, born in Pennsylvania, not employed. Robert Brown, son of Lorin, white, male, four years old, born in Pennsylvania.

Lorin Vernon Brown died 02 Jan 1988. Ruth survived him for twelve years and died in Bradford, Pennsylvania, 06 Dec 2000. She was survived by Robert Lorin Brown (1945–2020).
